Flashback Friday-20 Years of KG & Kobe
Both have been McDonald's All Americans, both were drafted right out of high school, both have won NBA titles but most admirably, both are still playing. Kevin Garnett grabbed headlines when in 1995 he was drafted from Chicago’s Farragut High School on the city’s west side. He was the first high schooler drafted to the NBA in 20 years. Kobe Bryant followed suit the next year, when he was drafted from Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania. These two players have won countless awards- including defensive player of the year, NBA Allstar MVP, League MVP, Olympic Gold and many more. Though Kobe has been with the Lakers his entire career, he has recently been plagued by injuries and retirement talk is all around him. Kevin Garnett on the other hand has recently returned to the team that originally drafted him signing a two year contract. He returns to the Timberwolves after stays in Boston and New Jersey. These two have undoubtledly made their mark on the NBA -known for bringing unpararalled passion and clutch shooting to the game. In a league where the average career lasts only about 5 years, these two have managed to not only surpass that number, but also remain relevant players, fan favoritess and huge superstars
