J. Cole "No Role Modelz"
Reality tv is filled with talentless and clueless airheads who have become the role models for many girls. This means they are nothing more than shallow “hoes,” but J Cole finds himself still entertaining them from time to time, so what does this say about him? The same can be said of Hip Hop. It has become devoid of substance and things that matter. But we still listen to it as well. What does this say about society?
The North Carolina native is known for writing music where he speaks his mind and insights conversations about what’s going on in the world. And this one is no different. Most of these girls probably can't even read, and all they’re even good for is sex. Knowing that he can have any girl he wants, but only because he's a rapper, makes him have little respect for her. In "No Role Modelz" J Cole compares shallow women, who only have to looks to rely on, to today's Hip hop - both void of role models, depth, with no direction and perfectly content with it...Showing no signs of changing.... “Don’t save her, she don’t wanna be saved."
Though he is leading this life, he really does want to experience real love.
“I want a real love, dark skinned Aunt Viv Love
That Jada and Will love
That leave a toothbrush at your crib love
And you ain't gotta wonder if that's your kid love"
“No Role Modelz” is the ninth song on J Cole's album 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
