We Matter: Philadelphia 76ers Issue an Apology to Sevyn Streeter! News
Wednesday night Sevyn Streeter was scheduled to perform the National Anthem at the 76ers game. Unfortunately officials denied her performance because of her attire. Sevyn wore a "We Matter" jersey. The question is what was wrong with her attire and why was she denied the opportunity to perform? Racial profiling here or naw? Sevyn states "I'd say two minutes before we were about to walk out, the organization told me that I could not wear my shirt while singing the National Anthem at their game. I was never given a dress code. I was never asked before hand to show my wardrobe." According to a statement she made to The Associated Press.
Well days later after receiving complaints about the decision. The 76ers delievered an apology to Sevyn. The statement read "We are sorry this happened. After receiving feedback from our players, basketball operations staff and ownership group, we believe the wrong decision was made, and Sevyn should have been welcomed to sing." "We apologize to her, and in an effort to move the conversation forward, we have reached out to offer her an opportunity to return and perform at a game of her choice. We are waiting to hear back." Well I wonder how long the organization will have to wait to hear back from Streeter?
