This song is a national anthem for anyone of color living anywhere in the world. It makes you feel proud to be the skin color that you are. "Hella Black" does for the people today what "Say It Loud I'm Black And I'm Proud" by James Brown did for the people back in the 60's. Tobe Nwigwe and The New Respects are making it okay for people of color to support, advocate for, and love themselves and the people that look like them. It's okay to be black and it's not your fault if other people can't handle that. Facts!

Tobe Nwigwe is a Nigerian American rapper from Alief, Texas. You may also know him for wearing the infamous white tube socks and Nike slides in his videos. His music transcends that of today's rap artists in the fact that he doesn't rap about the cars, clothes, money and women. When you listen to him, he puts you in the mind frame of a male Erykah Badu and Andre 3000. He raps on a higher level of awareness and wants the people listening to understand the message in the music. For example, his new single "Hella Black." There's a message in this song, plain as day. In all of his songs, there are gems. Tobe's album "The Originals" can be played from start to finish with bangers like, "Heat Rock," "Day Ones," and "I Choose You."

With Tobe collaborating with The New Respects, a Nashville, Tennessee group that consists of twin sisters Alexis and Alexandria Fitzgerald, brother Darius, and their cousin Jasmine Mullen, made for an authentic and powerful single. Songs of this magnitude are frequently overlooked and underrated. So check out "Hella Black" today. Make sure to share the video, download and stream the song.
